Welcome to Gallerie Spontaneous, a small but growing collective of art advocates recognizing a need for community, exposure and exhibition opportunities for Maui's artists working outside the structure supported by traditional galleries. Think of Gallerie Spontaneous as the Maui Arts Scene's equivalent to the Do-It-Yourself spirit of the indie music scene...
Our goal is to produce several annual temporary exhibition spaces in unlikely but well travelled areas around the island featuring work by established & emerging artists alike. In doing this, we also hope to build, encourage and in our own small way support community & creativity, dialog and independent action amongst a landscape dominated by what can best be described as commercial art.
For our first formal outing, Gallerie Spontaneous has partnered with the Maui County Agricultural Festival to create a “spontaneous,” one-day exhibition during the event at the Maui Tropical Plantation, on Saturday, April 6, 2013.
The theme of our first exhibition is “Fertile Ground.”
